what is the best way to potty train a puppy?
Posted by Puppy Trainer on December 29th, 2008 filed in Dogs
I have a 10 week old puppy. New to the whole puppy thing, and so far the potty training is the worst! So any ideas on how to train her, is appericated. Also, I live in a apt.

crate training is the best method. just remember to be patient, they have lots of accidents as their bladders are really small right now and rubbing their noses in it is not going to fix anything. you may also want to do a search and i recommend puppy training, we took ours to pet smart, we learned a ton lol, good luck

Long answer, but I have raised many puppies and this works without fail. Take the dog outside every 15 minutes if he went the previous time that you took him out and every 10 minute if he did not go the previous time that you took him out. When he goes outside give him/her lots of verbal and physical praise. If your dog does have an accident inside put their nose in it, if wet, or near it, if soild, to the accident and ONE swat on the butt not too hard though, then put them outside while you clean up.

When the dog needs to go, take it outside and let it sniff around. While it is going, say Do Your Business. Keep saying that everytime the dog goes and your dog will go on command. Just keep takeing the dog out every couple of hours. I used to rais guide dogs and that is what they taught us.
