What I would do is carry him outside. Set him down in the middle of the yard and if he tries to go back inside put him back out in the middle of the yard. Do this every time until he learns that he has to do his business outside. If he goes inside then make him stay outside for a while and scold him.

Give him a treat and praise him if he goes and continue to do that every time.

It is never too late. My dog was 8 years old when he came home with us and I potty trained him. Sounds like you have a stubborn breed. Just take him out every now and then and praise him when he goes. DO NOT USE TREATS!!! This will make him go out, pretend, then run back in. If you see him do it in the house, give him a strong NO and put him out. Clean up the mess with an ammonia free cleaner.

No, it’s not too late. Your pup is old enough to go out for a walk, walking stimulates the system and always works with my dogs. Good luck.

Take puppy out on a schedule. When you take him out, keep him on a leash so that he isn’t distracted by all of the smells. Tell him to “go potty” when he does go potty outside, praise him like crazy. When my puppy wouldn’t go potty outside, I would roll her over on her back and rub on her stomach (this is what mom does when they are babies to stimulate them to potty). I would take him out every 2-3 hours, and when you aren’t at home, I recommend a crate. If he comes in the house and potties after being outside, a stern no.. and take him back outside.
